“Hold on Me” Well I was talking to Ol’ Maggie, Yeah, she knew him well. She said, “ That boy got the devil in him and he’ll drag you straight to hell. Girl, keep on walking , don’t be tempting fate.” I said, “I’m sorry Maggie, but you’re a little too late. He’s got them eyes that keep burning, down into my soul. He’s got them lips that keep moving, but they never made me whole. He’s got a hold on me, yeah he’s got a hold on me. He’s got a hold on me, yeah he’s got a hold on me." She stopped what she was doing and she took me by the hand. She said, “Girl, don’t you worry, yeah, you know I understand. It wasn’t that far back, since I was about your age. I had to choose between the open road and what looked like a cage. But he had them eyes that kept burning, down deep in my soul. He’s got them lips that kept moving, but they never made me whole. He’s got a hold on me, yeah, he’s got a hold on me. He’s got a hold on me, yeah, he’s got a hold on me.” She packed up her things, to walk out the door. I said, “Hey wait a minute Maggie, you know I need to hear some more.” She said, “There ain’t no more to tell, no, there ain’t no more to see. Just keep on making those choices and you’ll end up just like me. When you got them eyes that keep burning, down deep in your soul. You got them lips that keep moving, but they’ll never make you whole. He’s got a hold on me, yeah, he’s got a hold on me. He’s got a hold on me, yeah, he’s got a hold…. Yeah, he’s got a hold on me. Yeah, he’s got a hold on me. He’s got a hold on me. Yeah, he’s got a hold.”

“Close Your Eyes” I fell in, I fell in too deep. Wandering around the mountain, made my way to the street. I went for the highs, I fell for the lows. Stumbled through my people, fell through the holes. But when I fell, ooh I fell, I closed my eyes Yeah, I closed my eyes Yeah, I closed my eyes yeah, I closed my eyes. These people, they looking, they looking all crazy. They looking at me like I’m trying to be lazy. Honey, please, I got my needs. Looking at me like I got a disease. My thinking, my thinking, it’s over creating. These thoughts that it’s making are so stimulating. With puff, puff, beat, beat, I got to go, now I need a retreat. In the back of my mind, I’m doing just fine. I mull it all over with coffee and wine. With, “Don’t worry, we’re in the clear. Keep moving on, there’s nothing to see here.” "But what should I do with the **** I’ve been given?" "Don’t ask me, man, I don’t know, I’m just living.” All that I’m seeing is all that I’m thinking and all that I’m seeing is negative thinking of “No, I’m not playing, man I’m only saying, man” Hard-headed, stubborn, Am I on repeat again? What was I saying when this started off? All I remember was… I got a pick in my pocket and a soul to steal (steel) beams and iron lockets are my only thrill me with a kiss if you leave it at my front door. because I won’t be taken.. no. I’ll give you what you want, if you give me what I need. I’ll take you for your word, if you take me for my greed. Go ahead and sleep, just close your eyes. Another day and the sun will rise. Go ahead and sleep your cares away. I’ll be right here, just say my name. Go ahead and sleep, close your eyes. Why don’t you close your eyes.

“Revolution” You ain’t no god, you ain’t no beast. You ain’t no friend, you don’t know peace. You ain’t my word, you ain’t my soul. You ain’t that emptiness eating me whole. Don’t make me say it. You know I’ll just brake it. If you’ll just take it, why don’t you take it from me. These words are just wasted. They’re old and they’re faded. There’s no ears to hear and there’s no eyes to see. This might be what you want, but it’s not what you need. These days are salt, and the nights make us bleed. Hope will carry on, but the fear will rise. Are we searching for the truth or just sifting through the lies? This is our revolution, we will rise, we will rise, we will rise This is our revolution, we will rise, we will rise, we will rise This is our revolution, we will rise, we will rise, we will rise Our time here is short and come what may, but all things must end at least that’s what beginnings say. So make amends while you can and move on before the Devil plays his hand. Don’t make me say it. You know I’ll just brake it. If you’ll just take it, why don’t you take it from me. These words are just wasted. They’re old and they’re faded. There’s no ears to hear and there’s no eyes to see. This is our revolution, we will rise, we will rise, we will rise This is our revolution, we will rise, we will rise, we will rise.

“Take Me to the Water” We need light in the fog. Not just a rope for us to hold on. I don’t need to be saved. I need to see. I don’t need help. I need to be free. Set me free, open my eyes. They’ve been closed, to you’re lies. We find strength in ourselves, once we see the hand we’ve been dealt. Take me to the water, take me to the shore. Take me to the water, take me to the shore. Take me to the water, take me to the shore. Take me to the water, take me to the shore. I’ve seen your lies I’ve seen all your truths. I’ve seen all of you. We’ve fought, we’ve been tried. We’ve been caught, we’ve been lied to. and we searched for our truth so our soul wouldn’t loose itself. Take me to the water, take me to the shore. Take me to the water, take me to the shore. Take me to the water, take me to the shore. Take me to the water, take me to the shore.
